Images!

How do I choose my images?

Where do I get them from?

I've always loved photography and have a background and interest in art. I'm self taught in most areas. I studied art through out high school and dabbled in a couple of courses at TAFE, never completed anything!

I naturally take photos of what I like and what pleases my eye. When taking photo's of Beanie Boo's I always put myself in the mind of a child. This helps me decide what colours and props to use. I try to keep the photo's simple, colourful and fun to keep my auidence...children under the age of 13 interested with a hint of wow factor.

For example with Waddles the penguin. I first ask myself where do penguins live? The answer is obvious....in a cold icey environemt. But I live in Australia so that's difficult to find.....but if I think outside the square I know I can find ice in my freezer. Place Waddles on an angle surrounded by ice and you have a pretty cool photo. Very simple idea but also very effective.

A photo doesn't need to complicated. Brutus the dog has not only beautiful Beanie Boo eyes but great eyebrows too. So I decided to only photograph from the nose up on a white background add the word "Woof!" and he's as cute as ever. Sometime less is more, this gives the audience a chance to view the picture without being distracted. The Beanie Boo's are my focus and it's fun giving them personalities and entering an imaginary world for a moment or two behind the camera.

So grab your camera and give it a go! In the world of digital you can't get it wrong, and if you do delete and start again.....happy snapping :)
